communication skills, anger management, juvenile detention

Many people do not achieve their desired goals, not because of inefficiency, but because they lack positive thinking. Positive thinking is not a life skill that can be acquired. It is a thought process that needs to be planted into the brains of today’s youth.

In today’s world, youth are at risk. Competing with one’s peers and materialistic needs have made the young generation become victims of depression, anxiety and anger. Lacking communication skills to express their feelings is another factor. To relieve the pressure put on them by society, beautiful young lives are wasting away in drugs and alcohol- More than ever, today’s youth are more angry and prone to crime and are desperately in need of anger management skills.
Therefore, it is important to teach youth and particularly youth at risk the life skills they need to lead a better life. Instructors trained in teaching these life skills to at risk youth are imperative to the success of turning these youth around. Community based organizations are starting to realize that they play an important role in developing the positive attitudes among adolescents as well as adults. Programs for teaching life skills in high schools, life skills in middle schools, and even pre-k and elementary school have become a hot topic of discussion. A lack of positive behavior and anger management skills are seen as important reasons why youth get into trouble. There are hundreds of youth every year that get into juvenile detention because of mischief, uncontrolled anger, and other criminal behavior.
These youth are not beyond help. They desperately need the proper tools to turn their lives around. And that is ARISE’s mission. For more than 25 years, ARISE has devoted its resources to the development of life skills programs and activities for at-risk youth. These programs work. They are evidence based, age appropriate manuals and lesson plans that any caregiver certified to teach the ARISE life skills will be able to deliver and get the results that are so important to the future of these troubled teens.

Life Skills For High School youth enabling them to to reach their highest potential

We all agree that we need to reach out to many kids to help them read, write and do math. This is the reason it is important to support “The No Child Left behind Act” to help every child in the community have a bright future. However, today many youth are at-risk and this can lead them towards a more self-destructive lifestyle.
Teaching Life Skills for High School is extremely important because there are many youth that are not able to cope with the changes that they face in their everyday lives. If they do not have the right skill set to meet the expectations of the community, then they come under the category of “No child Allowed to Advance Act” because they just do not seem to come up to their desired level of excellence. These young people need to think for themselves, and become the kind of people who would be the pillars of society rather than becoming sheep that just know how to follow their masters.

A good standard of living can only be achieved if they have the right life skills and are able to develop a Positive Thinking attitude, and have the ability to handle all kinds of negative situations in constructive ways. There are good ways out of every situation, and it is all about having the ability to see the right path rather than going down the wrong one. They have to be given the right kind of guidance and skills, and it becomes the responsibility of the community to help each and every young person achieve their highest potential.

The Community Based Organizations working with at-risk youth have to make sure that these kids are going down the right path that would help them become productive citizens. The kids have to learn to fend for themselves if they want to survive on their own in the world, and this is the opportunity for the members of the community to help them in their time of growth. If they are able to acquire the kind of skill sets that they need, then they have a strong chance to become the responsible human beings that we expect them to be in the future. This is the only way to build a strong civilization that would last for a long time.

If youth get in trouble with the law, the community should provide Alternatives To Incarceration rather than send them to detention or a secure facility. If they are incarcerated, they learn more criminal behavior and by the time they get out they have a PHD in crime.

Positive Thinking To Cultivate Inner Peace

There are many young people out there that need guidance, and support to get through the personal problems that they have been facing in their lives. The most important part is that they need the Communication Skills to come back in contact with society because over a period of time such people tend to loose touch with other people.
